The questions we answer
every week
If your situation is not covered here, send it to us — we will tell you which route fits before you commit to anything.
Who can apply for MM2H?+
Main applicants must be 25 or older (21 for the Forest City Special tier) with the required fixed deposit and, for Silver, Gold and Platinum, a qualifying property purchase. There is no nationality restriction on applying, and no requirement to give up your current passport.
Do I have to live in Malaysia?+
MM2H asks for 90 days a year, accumulable across the year rather than in one block — and it applies to a main applicant aged 50 and below. PVIP has no minimum stay at all.
Can my family come with me?+
Yes. Spouse, children and both sets of parents can be included. Children are covered to 34 on MM2H Platinum and to 25 on PVIP; on Silver and Gold, dependents are charged government processing of RM2,500 each.
Is the fixed deposit locked away for good?+
No. On MM2H, half the deposit may be withdrawn for approved purposes — property, education, medical treatment. On PVIP, RM500,000 of the RM1,000,000 becomes withdrawable six months after approval.
Must I buy property?+
For MM2H Silver, Gold and Platinum, yes — from RM600,000, RM1,000,000 and RM2,000,000 respectively. The Special tier requires a new unit from the Forest City developer. PVIP has no property requirement.
How long does the whole thing take?+
Around two to four weeks to prepare the documents. Once we submit to the government, approval takes roughly three to four months. After endorsement you have three months to come to Malaysia — open the fixed deposit account, purchase medical insurance and complete the medical check-up — and the visa is then endorsed in your passport.
Can I work or run a business on the visa?+
MM2H Platinum and PVIP carry the wider set of benefits — business, investment and working — while Silver and Gold cover education and medical treatment. We will confirm what your intended activity needs before you commit.
What happens if my case is not straightforward?+
We check eligibility before anything is submitted and tell you plainly when a route will not work, rather than filing and hoping. Where a file has already stalled with another agent, we diagnose it and say what can be salvaged.
